Limnos is located at the north eastern part of the Aegean, amid Samothraki, the Holy Mountain Athos, Mitilini and Imvros. It’s the 8th island in terms of size and has a remarkable coastline, with hundreds of bays and gulfs that grant it a distinct shape. In terms of administration, it belongs to the County of Lesvos and along with the island of Agios Eustratios, constitute the Prefecture of Limnos.
The island is characterized primarily by the volcanic, steep formations, the mild mountainous rocks, the moderate vegetation, the windmills, the countless country- churches and the stone-built walls that create an extremely severe, yet unexpected beauty.

DSC_0091The basic occupation of the indigenous population is cattle-raising, farming, fishing, trade and tourism. The island is famous, among other local products, for its exquisite wine, “moshato” or “limnio”, the cheese “ksero” or “liasto”, the traditional homemade pasta ”flomaria” and above all, the thyme honey.
Limnos is a big and hospitable island with many sights and tremendous choices for an unforgettable vacation. The visitor will be charmed by the wonderful sandy beaches, the traditional villages and the magnificent architecture.
